Sonaura helps to preserve and promote the soundscape of the Bio-District. From Cilento, an opportunity for all Bio-Districts around the world.

Every territory has a voice.

Sonaura records the soundscape of protected territories, safeguards it as heritage, and gives it back as an experience. A programme open to bio-districts worldwide.

The sound, before it is lost

Sonaura Healing records the soundscapes of pristine places — the sea, the wind, the forest at dawn — in three-dimensional binaural audio, exactly as they sound on location. No digital artifacts: only the original sound.

Woven together with ancestral instruments — Tibetan bowls, gongs, ethnic percussion, bansuri — these sounds become a neuro-acoustic reset protocol: a guided listening session that accompanies the nervous system from alertness to recovery.

It all lives inside the Sonaura Healing Station: a self-contained, ready-to-use unit that brings a territory’s landscape into a spa, a visitor centre, a hospitality venue.

Born in the world’s first bio-district

Sonaura does not arrive from outside to narrate a territory: it was born inside one. The Cilento — National Park, UNESCO MAB reserve, a land of longevity and the birthplace of the Mediterranean diet — is where the method was built, recorded and tested.

Here we mapped coastlines, woods and springs, built the territory’s first sound library and installed the first Healing Stations. The project is honoured by the patronage of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park and of the Bio-Distretto Cilento, the first bio-district in the world.

What we offer other bio-districts is not a theory. It is a method already walked, in a territory that is your very own starting point.

1°  The Bio-Distretto Cilento is the first bio-district established in the world — and the first to be given a sound identity.

MAB  The recordings are made inside a UNESCO biosphere reserve, among the most intact in the Mediterranean.

2×  Twofold institutional patronage: Cilento National Park and Bio-Distretto Cilento.

EEG  Live demonstration sessions with real-time brainwave readings, before medical professionals and institutions.

A bio-district protects its land, its water, its seeds. And its sound?

The acoustic landscape is intangible heritage — and the most fragile kind. You don’t see it disappear: you simply stop hearing it. A road, a species that leaves, a season quieter than the one before.

Recording a bio-district’s soundscape means creating a document: a dated, georeferenced record of how that place sounded, at that moment in its history. It is conservation before it is communication.

And because every territory sounds unlike any other, that document is also the hardest thing to imitate that a bio-district owns.

Not only nature: the life of the territory

The sound of a territory is not made of nature alone. It is also made of the gestures that have inhabited it for generations: the voice of traditional instruments, the rhythm of work, the sounds of the home. With the same Sonaura audio standard, we record these too.

Traditional musical instruments; the sounds of the kitchen — the hands shaping the fusilli and cavatielli of the Cilento; the work of artisans, the loom, the chisel, the potter’s wheel. Every territory has its own: what is a cavatiello here is another gesture, another sound, elsewhere.

These are among the most fragile sounds of all: the first to vanish when a craft or a gesture is lost. Recording them means safeguarding the living memory of the territory — and giving the sound identity a depth that nature alone cannot reach.

How we work in a bio-district

Three phases, in order. No construction work, no technical training required from your staff.

Sound mapping of the territory

A week in the field, together with you. We identify the places that best tell your ecosystem’s story and record them in 3D audio, at the right hour of the day and of the season.

The result is a georeferenced sound archive of the bio-district: an asset that stays with the territory.

Creation of the sound identity

From the recordings we compose your territory’s sound signature: playlists and listening protocols built on your landscapes, not on generic sounds.

An exclusive, recognisable identity that is yours — and that no other territory can claim.

Installation of the Healing Stations

The Stations arrive ready and are installed where the territory meets people: spas, hospitality venues, visitor centres, farm stays, wellness centres across the district.

Visitors listen to your landscape, watch its effect in real time, and can take it home with them.

What the territory keeps

Safeguarding

A permanent sound archive of your ecosystem: a conservation record, useful for research and for the territory’s memory.

Recognisability

A distinctive voice that sets your bio-district apart from every other, in communication, tourism and cultural projects.

Experience

One more reason to visit the territory — and to stay: a wellbeing experience found only with you.

Revenue

Sessions delivered by the district’s venues generate revenue that stays local; the playlists can be sold to visitors.

What happens can be observed

The effects of natural sound on human systems are the subject of a broad scientific literature: pristine soundscapes are associated with reduced perceived stress and better attention recovery. Sonaura builds on this evidence.

During a session, EEG and heart-rate variability (HRV) make what the listener is experiencing observable in real time: the passage from a state of alertness to one of deep recovery.

Beta  →  Alpha / Theta

The devices used are consumer-grade EEG: the reading is indicative, not clinical. Sonaura is not a therapy and does not replace any medical treatment. Biometric data is processed only with informed consent, in full GDPR compliance.

Founding Programme

We are opening the Sonaura method to the international network of bio-districts. The first ten territories to join enter as Founders.

up to −50%

for the first 10 bio-districts to join

Reserved terms on sound mapping and Healing Stations, territorial exclusivity on your sound identity, and research co-branding. Exact terms depend on the size of the territory and the number of installations.

Tell us about your territory

Write us a few lines about your bio-district: where it is, what it protects, which venues could host a Healing Station. We will reply with a tailored proposal and, if you wish, a live demonstration.
