12 June, 2026, Sessa Cilento, City Council Hall: Public Meeting on the International promotion of “The Borgo dei Mulini” (The Village of the Mills)

There are over 1,000 organic territories around the world, where farmers, consumers and local authorities have established a pact for the sustainable management of resources.

Travelling through organic districts represents a new concept of green tourism centred on environmental, social and cultural sustainability.

Every year, many people travel between organic districts with different objectives: to learn about other organic communities, their traditions and cultures, to exchange best practices, to attend courses and workshops, to play sport, and to enjoy the nature and natural landscapes that characterise the various organic territories. The experts at IN.N.E.R. have developed tourist itineraries, bio-trails and experiential routes, in close collaboration with accredited local operators, to offer unique experiences of total immersion in the real and fascinating life of the Bio-Districts.

The Grand Tour Bio represents a concrete opportunity for the villages of the Bio-Districts to raise their international profile and promote local cultures.

A concrete example of the international promotion of a territory is provided by the “Il Borgo dei Mulini” initiative in Sessa Cilento, which forms part of the Cilento Bio-District itinerary of the Grand Tour Bio and has been promoted at the largest organic trade fair (Biofach in Nuremberg) and at the World Congress of Bio-Districts (Idanha-a-Nova in Portugal).

We will discuss this with experts from nine countries (Italy, Argentina, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan and Bangladesh), including founders of the Bio-Districts movement, university professors, agroecologists and participants in the Master’s programme in “Mediterranean Organic Agriculture” run by CIHEAM Bari.
