Research

The bio-districts/Eco-regions  have been the subject of several research projects.

  • DIMECOBIO – Project funded by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies, coordinated by ISMEA. The CIHEAM Bari, Italian branch of the Centre International de Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Méditerranéennes, partecipated at the project activities as responsible of the Work Package 3 “Territorial approach to the organic farmig” -> Report on the Italian Bio-districts experiences, with contributions of Patrizia Pugliese and Annarita Antonelli (CIHEAM Bari), Salvatore Basile (AIAB – IN.N.E.R.), Cesare Zanasi and Cosimo Rota (Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna).

                       

  • HealthyGrowth – from niche to volume with integrity and trust. Project funded via the ERA-NET CORE Organic II by national funds to each partner. The project investigated a range of successful mid-scale organic value chains, in order to learn how they are able to combine volume and values, and to use this knowledge to support the further development of organic business, network and initiatives. Research teams from ten European countries contributed with 20 case studies (3 on Bio-districts). Links:
